Poster Contest Winner!
It is about time someone in the art world realized how great my mom's artwork is! This article was in the paper and doesn't fully give her justice, but it is always satisfying to see Mom get some well deserved publicity!

Broomfield Poster 2009-
This was inspired by actual children who Gail witnessed actually playing in water puddles throughout the park. This work was selected to be printed as the Broomfield Poster of 2009.

Dan and Courtney's favorite-
They already called this work. Gail has actually done some more work since this picture was taken so it looks a little different. Regardless, how realistic and delightful is this piece? I know for fact that i have seen a little girl stricken with curiosity reaching out to hungry goldfish in a pond. Only a true artist can capture the moment like Gail does.

Horseback Riding-
If you know Gail, you know that she loves horses. I think its the power that radiates from their bodies. Or maybe it's because the pure beauty they hold. Kind of like her paintings.

Simple little things of life. Enough said.

Farm House-
Detail is somewhat of a trait of Gail's art. You can see every mark of the pastel making up the trees and farm harvest. Van Gogh was an amature compared to my mom.

Christ-
I mentioned earlier that Gail paints spiritually. Ovebiously this is a portriat of Jesus Christ. She should be more proud of this one. Not alot of artists are bold enough to paint their savior.

Oldie but Goodie-
This is an older piece, but you can really see how Gail takes simplicity and makes is a masterpiece. Look closely, you can see her self portrait in the reflection of the vase.

This piece was too great to include in Landscape alone. I love the rich colors. Looks like Colorado to me. Gail is so good that you can even locate the setting of a painting!

Portraits

I keep telling her that she needs to get into doing portraits for people. She doesn't think she is good enough. I think this portrait is pretty darn good! Not to mention precious and totally captures the moment. Who needs Senior Pictures? Have Gail do a Senior Portrait! If you can photograph it, she can paint it!

Landscapes

So i am beginning to think that i am expressing my opinion too much on my moms site. Now you can leave comments and tell her what you think. One thing that you can be sure of. I love each and everyone.

Aren't her landscapes gorgeous?

Becca's Favorite-
Gail is often inspired by her life experience. This piece is of a farmers market flower section. I love the detail that my mom includes. You can see each petal of the flowers. Mom you are truly a genius.

personal favorites

My Favorite-
Because this blog is a secret birthday gift, i cant ask my mom what she titled this piece. I am just going to call it "My Favorite." I love this one. The simplicity, composition, rich color and technique. This is one of Gail's newer pieces and i am currently working on getting it put up in my room. hehe the perks of having a fine artist as a mother.

Gail

Gail Lukens- Being the artist she is, she never fails to take hold of life and it's beauty and express it through her art work. She captures the true emotion and allows her artwork to communicate with viewers. A mother of nine, Gail put painting oh hold to raise her very fine children. I think she said it best when she was interviewed by a local journalist saying, "My children are my real masterpieces." Well mom I have to agree. We did turn out to be a good looking bunch, but I know that we were just the beginning and i can not wait for the day when people see the artistic and spiritual quality of you work.

Andrew and Ashley

Andrew and Ashley- Oh the romance of Andrew and Ashley! One cutie couple is how the family describes them! This work was one of the pieces that Gail submitted to a show. Being the unfair self critic she is, Gail has to be very proud of a piece to show it off. I see how great her work is, so i am showing it off for her! I think this piece does a wonderful job of displaying the bond between Andy and Ash and of course it is placed in a very romantic, yet simple area. A picture speaks a thousand words, but art work by Gail Lukens speaks a whole new language.

Rebecca- Knowing my mother best, I know that to her, family is always first and brings her the greatest joy. Her art work greatly reflects this and in respect for this, i am posting all her artwork done of family members first. I am not 100% sure but i believe that this work was done partially by request. Being the symbol of beauty, Becky suggested herself as a subject. I think this piece shows a side of Becca that we all know. A side of beauty, grace and class. I have one question though. Isn't Becky allergic to cats? :)What do you all think?

Personal Family Favorites

Christina, Eli and Leah- This portrait is of the oldest in the family, Christina and her two children Eli and Leah. Christina takes after Gail in many ways but evidently in how she nurtures and lovingly teaches her children.

Kudos to my mother

If you are viewing this blog, you are probably a fan or a soon to be of my mother Gail Lukens and her art work. Or you are one of her nine children or husband who have been a fan due to the sheer fact that she is awesome both personally and artistically. I believe that every famous artist wouldn't be what they are without a strong support system and of course a little publicity. Gail has the support, so here comes the publicity. Happy Birthday Mom! Thanks for life, and your enriching art work.

As soon as this is set up properly Gail will take over and publish her latest works and the fun stories, updates, and sale of her artwork. (as soon as I teach her of course.)
